"WORK"
Blind
intaglio on wove paper, signed in pencil, 'Yukihisa Isobe,' and dated, '65,' lower right, and numbered, '27/30,' lower left.
Born
in 1935 in Tokyo, Yukihisa Isobe graduated in 1959 from Tokyo University of Arts. In the 1960s, Isobe was critically
acclaimed as an artist who bridged the gap between the abstraction of
the 1950s and the Pop Art of the 1960s with his prints that featured 'Wappen' coat of arms as a recurring motif and his multilayered
paintings that made reference to classical works.
In the late 1960s, after he moved to the United States, he became involved
in the field of environmental planning and has
remained a pioneer in it until this day. It was a progression that allowed
him to take his interest in the natural environment
and invest it in activities on a larger scale.
